Fall Events In Milwaukee | The Best Time To Head East to the Lakefront

Center Street Dayz 2012
It may be September in Milwaukee, but fall can be the best time to head to the east side or lakefront.  The festivals, and outdoor events are starting to taper off, but that doesn't mean that it's over for 2012. Here are three great options to consider, when looking for something to do this weekend.

The WMSE Backyard BBQ is set for this Saturday at Cathedral Square.  There will be a handful of great bands performing live. Trapper Schoepp and The Shades will be one of four bands on the bill. This event won't feature dozens of merchandise booths, and corporate sponsored wine tents.  It's all about the music.  Don't get me wrong. There will be a few food vendors and a handful of booths that will be promoting all the best local entertainment options. All the proceeds from the beverage sales will go to WMSE radio, and that's a good thing.

Center Street Dayz 2012

Do you want to go to a mellower, more gritty version of Locust Street Days?  That would be Center Street Dayz 2012. Avoid the massive crowds of Locust Street, and take an hour to walk around Center Street Dayz. There will be three or four stages, food vendors, and the usual tents filled with jewelry etc. The crowds are thinner (and a bit more youthful,) on this final summer weekend. Dr. Chow is headlining the event, and hit the stage around 6:30pm.  Be sure to stop at Fuel for an espresso, or a high flying "Speedball" coffee drink.

Milwaukee Art Museum Final Weekend for Posters of Paris

This is the final weekend to catch the Posters of Paris show at the Milwaukee Art Museum. Some of the best that Paris has to offer is on display for all to see. Check out the poster masters of the late 1800's and early 1900's. Paris was awash with artistry back then, and it's on full display on Milwaukee's lakefront.  Be sure to walk the grounds around the museum.  It's the best way to check out the dozens of newly married couples that use the Calatrava building as their background. Milwaukee has plenty to offer those entertainment starved city dwellers.  Just go out there and get busy!
