So You Think You Can Dance

The water cooler discussions at my office centered around the show that came to Milwaukee last night. The contestants from the t.v. show So You Think You Can Dance performed at The Bradley Center to a house that was 2/3 full on the lower level. "It was weird, everyone was sitting in their seats by 7:31pm." was one comment I had heard.

I was curious, and another coworker picked out one of the dances from Youtube. It was her favorite dance that Twitch had performed. She told me to keep an open mind about it.

I was told that many of the fans milling about the Bradley Center walked around like dancers waiting to be discovered. I suppose that would be the case. There are always those rock and roll dudes that secretly dream of being pulled on stage to play guitar for their favorite band.

The Bradley Center ticket sales for off-market events are nearing the end of their cycle. The Milwaukee Bucks will start playing their 2008-09 season soon. That leaves little time to book shows on off nights. During the summer, the concerts are more plentiful at that venue.

Around the horn in Milwaukee

There are lots of things to do in the coming weeks here in Milwaukee. First stop would be the Pabst Theater to see The B-52's. They perform this Saturday night. A big sell out show is also coming to The Riverside Theater. The aged Bob Dylan will be mumbling through his vast repertoire in a venue fit for just that style.

B.B. King plays on Halloween. For a local show, check out The Gufs on October 25th. Those guys never seem to fade away, and most Milwaukee based bands of that type will always have a place to play.

The Rave has some great shows coming too. If you can get past what I would consider to be the biggest banner ad in the world, a visit to their website notes that Death Cab For Cutie is coming on December 6th. Matisyahu has been getting some serious airplay on MTV, and for good reason. That show is set for Saturday, October 18th. The Rave can be an interesting place to see a show. I suggest a drink over at the Ambassador Hotel first. It's across the street from the club.

Brewers tickets a hard thing to find

It was miraculous final few games for the Milwaukee Brewers. They managed to squeak into the wild card spot, and made the playoffs. Two dramatic finishes helped the Brewers win just enough games to face Philadelphia.

It is certain that at least one game will be played in Milwaukee. Those Milwaukee Brewers tickets have been hard to find. It will be so different this time as far as the venue. Miller Park will probably have the roof closed for that Wednesday game. As October rolls along, and if the Brewers stay in the hunt, the climate controlled venue will be so nice when compared to County Stadium. I went to one of the World Series games at County Stadium back in 1982. It was a cold and miserable day. The Brew Crew lost, and my girlfriend went home before the game ended.

We will see what happens from here. Go Brewers Go!
