The legendary Les Paul coming to the Pabst Theater

Les Paul and Friends are coming to The Pabst Theater on June 21st. Not much time to make plans for that one, but hey, it's Les Paul! With his museum being built here in Milwaukee you have to admit that this guy will bring more visitors from all over the world. I suspect that the Wisconsin music lovers will come in droves to see this one. He's gone beyond the age of 90, but that doesn't mean that he has lost his chops.

When he came to play in Waukesha last year, the even was very exclusive. This time, the common man can come see him perform at the Pabst Theater. He spends most of his time in New York, but still has hometown status here in good old Wisconsin.

Harley Davidson 105th in Milwaukee

The thunder of 100,000 Harley Davidson motorcycles will be heard all across Milwaukee in celebration of their 105th anniversary. The Summerfest grounds will be alive with music from for two days. Bruce Springsteen will perform at the Roadhouse at the Lakefront. This event is sure to top the 100th anniversary celebration. That was a great time, but it ended with a major flop. Elton John is a nice guy, but not someone you would expect to headline a motorcycle festival. Also performing for this massive party are: Foo Fighters, Big Head Todd, Los Lonely Boys, Foghat, ZZ Top, Dr. John, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Black Crowes, Gary Allan, War, Peter Frampton, Joan Jett, Blind Melon, Dierks Bentley, Puddle of Mudd, Buddy Guy, Daughtry, Blue Oyster Cult, and Cameo.

Party on the Summerfest grounds, party at the Roadhouse, party in the streets of Milwaukee.
Do not be confused with this event and Summerfest. Summerfest tickets won’t get you into this party, even though it sounds like a second Summerfest event. The crowds will be massive all across the city, so you might find yourself having fun just about anywhere you go. This is a proud moment for Milwaukee. Let’s hope that the weather cooperates.

I remember the 100th was quite fun. Brady Street was blocked off, along with other locations across the city. Hotel rooms will be booked months in advance. On top of that, the Green Bay Packers fans will be just 120 miles to the north of Milwaukee, checking out the last pre-season game. Wisconsin will be alive that weekend, and I’m sure to be a part of the celebrations. Remember loud pipes save lives, keep your eyes and ears open, give the Harley riders a break, and try to have some fun if you find yourself stuck in a motorcycle traffic jam. It’s only for one weekend, it comes every five years, and this one is going to be huge.

I have two neighbors that own Harleys. I expect to see them polishing their iron horses and representing my neighborhood.

Debbie Harry and Creedence at Summerfest

The 70's nostalgia bands for the Summerfest M&I Classic Rock Stage have been announced. You don't need anything more than a Summerfest Ticket to see these aging icons. Kansas, Three Dog Night, Debbie Harry of Blondie, and others will grace the M&I stage during the 10 day festival run. Some of the show times for these acts are a bit earlier too. In past years, the headliner would go on stage at 10:30pm. Not so this year. Check the times to make sure you don't show up halfway through the show. Nearly local, Cheap Trick will be performing on July 5th. What could be called a "one hit wonder" Mountain performs on July 4th. Earth, Wind, and Fire closes out the run on July 6th. A mere $15 will get you more rock and roll that you can stand.

Will anybody go see the Milwaukee Bucks next season?

I know that it's Milwaukee Brewers time. I realize that the Green Bay Packers generate much more interest in Milwaukee, over their hometown Bucks. I'm still rooting for my Milwaukee Bucks next fall. There has to be a breaking point. My Milwaukee Bucks have to come around sooner or later. Will this new coach seal the deal and bring a playoff team to the court at The Bradley Center? Will the Bucks gel for the first time since 2000? I hear that the new coach is a no nonsense kind of guy. We need that. We need someone to teach those guys some defense. The winter goes on long after the last snap of the football, so why can't we get a good basketball team to bring us into spring? I guess you have to ask Herb Kohl that question. If they come out of the box and go above .500 in the first 20 games, I will pony up the cash and buy some Milwaukee Bucks tickets.

Maroon 5 and Counting Crows in Milwaukee

I wanted to buy Marcus Amphitheater tickets for the Counting Crow show, and they wanted me to give them $35 to join their fan club first! Holy cow! The face value of the tickets is already going to be over $120 and they wanted me to join the fan club to boot? What if I only like Maroon 5? Do I have to pretend to love Counting Crows just to get a chance to see Maroon 5? Then, I see that there are so many ways to get advance tickets I wonder if it's worth the effort. I'm a huge fan of the Marcus Amphitheater shows. I think it will be a great show. If I could get a t-shirt with the fan club membership, that would be a consolation prize in my mind. Either way, I'll find a way to grab a pair of tickets for Counting Crows.
